This was a wire-to-wire all out effort game for the Trinity Trailblazers. Their hot start of a 12-4 opening run set the stage for a fast paced, defensive game. Peter Yamasaki led all scores with 18 points while Joey Lee had yet another outstanding game and was on the cusp of a triple-double with 12 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 steals. Nicholas Yamasaki continued to embrace his new role as point guard this season and dished out 8 assists while scoring 11 points. Kyle Eliasen continued his hot three point scoring streak with 3 more treys tonight. Ian Stempert and Nikita Sifonios both played major roles on defense combining for 5 steals and 11 rebounds while also taking a number of charges.
The game was hotly contested throughout with neither team leading by more than 8 points. The second half was an absolute barn burner with several ties until the closing minutes. Nikita had a put back layup that extended a 4 point lead to 6 with less than 2 minutes remaining and then free throws by Ian, Nick, and Peter put the game on ice.
Trinity closed it's busy week with a 2-1 record and have next week off for mid-term exams. The Trailblazers are back in action on Monday, January 23rd against tonight's opponent, American Christian at home. Tip off is scheduled for 4 pm.
Final Score: TCS-55, American-49
10-7 (4-4)
